Gidday, how're you going?

Hooray for Dogs

I will start this month off with something I’m sure all the dog owners out there experience almost daily but something which never ceases to amuse me. I open up the door of my wagon at night when I pull up at home, and there waiting is this tail-wagging, noise-making exuberant little pot-licker named Poppy. Once I have had the cursory sniff to validate that I am who I should be, there is the fast galloping-round-the-front-lawn Dad's home Dad's home Dad's home Wooohooo! barking dance. This is regularly interspersed with sideways glances to see what can be gathered up during the dance as a gift; a doggy token of joyousness and pleasure at the fact that I have returned. On the expiration of the doggy dance, jumping up and down, barking bum-wiggle tail-wagging parade, the gift is offered and removed and offered and removed and offered and removed and so the game begins.

The aspect of this little exercise that never ceases to raise a smile is that I can be gone for five minutes, five hours or five days and it never changes. That being said however, the extended absences that occur periodically do intensify the reaction from double-tail-speed-wagging to sometimes, levitational-speed-tail-wagging. I think Cat Stevens summed it up a few decades back when he wrote these few lines:

I love my dog as much as I love you
But you may fade, my dog will always come through.
All he asks from me is the food to give him strength
All he ever needs is love and that he knows he'll get.
So, I love my dog as much as I love you
But you may fade, my dog will always come through.
All the pay I need comes shining through his eyes
I don't need no cold water to make me realize that.

Frequently Asked Questions
Do you have a question about our products, or want some feeding advice? Send us your questions for our Pet Advisor to answer.
"How can I transition my pet onto Jimbo's?"

If your pet has never had a particular product before it can be helpful to let the tummy slowly get used to the new food. This is especially the case if your pet is used to eating a lot of dry food. Raw food requires different friendly bacteria and enzymes for digestion in comparison to what's needed for digesting dry food. When pet owners suddenly introduce raw food to the diet it can cause stomach upsets if it is done too quickly.

If you have a cat or a small dog, we advise mixing a small amount (e.g. a teaspoon!) of the new food in with a normal meal once a day for about three days. For larger dogs you can use a tablespoon. If your pet goes well with this small amount of new food for a few days, you can slowly increase the amount you feed. Doing this will let your pet's tummy acclimatise to the new product.
